The First Aid course lasts 10 hours. It teaches the basic skills needed to help a victim. This is important in the event of an accident or medical emergency.

At the end of this training, you will receive your first aid certificate. This certificate is valid for 6 years. To obtain it, you must register for the Highway Code exam.

The first aid course, run by Lémanique Driving School, is designed to teach you essential first aid skills.
If you take a closer look at the first aid course syllabus, you can identify several major pillars of this learning process.
Taking safety measures in the event of an accident
You will learn how to secure the scene of an accident to avoid any further danger to yourself and others present.

It’s the first thing you do when you arrive at the scene of an accident. The aim is to avoid over-accidents.
Know your rights and duties as a citizen
You will understand your responsibilities as a citizen and the legal obligations involved in providing first aid.
Learn how to alert the emergency services
You will know how to alert the emergency services effectively and provide them with all the necessary information.
For example, you will be trained to assess the condition of an injured person quickly and effectively using the ABCD method (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability).

This is the key information you need to pass on to the emergency services, so that they can tell you what to do by the time they arrive on the scene.
Mastering emergency intervention
During this 10-hour training course at the Lémanique Driving School, you will learn how to place an unconscious person in a lateral position of safety, and you will be trained in cardiac massage techniques and the use of a defibrillator.

In the case of a bleeding injury, you will also learn how to react and apply a pressure dressing.
You will also be able to react to first-, second- and third-degree burns. To ensure effective communication with emergency services, you will learn how to identify and treat the different types of burns, according to their severity.
Adopting appropriate behavior in traffic
Finally, you will develop an understanding of the safe behavior to adopt as a driver on the road, putting safety at the heart of your actions.
