
First aid
The first aid course, also known as the Samaritan course, is a compulsory step towards obtaining your Swiss driver’s license. Provided by AE-L, the Geneva-based driving school, this comprehensive 10-hour course, spread over 2 days, teaches you the essential skills needed to intervene effectively in the event of an emergency on the road.
Why is this important? This course prepares you to act quickly and appropriately in the event of an accident. You’ll learn the first-aid techniques that are essential for saving lives. These include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which maintains blood flow to a victim of cardiac arrest. You’ll also master the lateral position of safety (PLS), a crucial technique for protecting an injured person while waiting for professional help.
The use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) is also part of the training. This universally accessible device can make all the difference in the event of cardiac arrest. In addition, you will be trained to contact the emergency services accurately and efficiently, an essential skill for rapid care.
